Makeup Tutorial (A Poem)

I.
Clean your face.
Free it from any form of negativities.
Gently scrub it with time
And let it exfoliate the troubles
Of the past.
Moisturize it not with tears of sorrow
But with tears of joy.
To achieve a flawless foundation,
Prime it with good deeds and moral values.
Conceal not your imperfections,
Rather embrace them wholeheartedly.
Then powder your foundation with love
To make it last longer.

II.
Define your brows with wisdom and beauty.
Yes, they go together but they are sisters not twins.
Apply generosity all over eyelids
But don’t forget to deepen it with justice.
Finish your eye makeup by outlining what’s good
In every person you meet.

III.
Contour your dreams and
Let your cheeks burn just like your passion.
Highlight it with hard work and perseverance.
Let those things make you glow from within.
Wear truth upon your lips
And smile confidently because now your makeup is done.

  1. Hi Tine!

It's nice to see that you wrote about something you love as I've noticed that you are into make-ups. I enjoy reading your write-ups especially this one since you wrote it as a poem. And I'm soo into poems myself, (You know that since you've commented on some of them, unfortunately they were deleted when I tried to fix my disqus, huhu)

But anyways, I'm looking forward to reading more of your works. God bless!

    Much love,

  2. Define your brows with wisdom and beauty. Yes, they go together but they are sisters not twins. - mah favorite line! reminds me of my fave passage din about "Charm is deceitful and beauty is fleeting, but a woman who fears the Lord will be praised" <3

  3. what an amazing poem! It should be published. It is very deep but written so simply...love how you used the metaphor of applying the make up to show how we should apply certains values and morals to keep our soul beautiful and clean.

  7. Wow, Tin, I'm impressive on your poem, your idea to compare the way how we suppose to life to makeup was really smart :) I'm so in love with the part of your poem, when you mentioned about "moisturize (face) not with tears of sorrow, but with tears of joy". Great job, my creative friend!

  8. I so much enjoyed reading this poem Tin! <3 You are such a master of words my darling!
I love how you added some deepness and meaning to such a simple thing as makeup. There is certain shallowness when it comes to makeup as in "putting on your face aka facade", therefore, I really like how you made makeup sound less shallow and more meaningful, if you understand what I mean :)
You've got great talent, I can't wait to read more poems by you!
