Dine Out with Your Squad at Kampo

Kampo Grill and Bar
While being an adult has its definitive list of highlights, it also has some setbacks such as not being able to constantly meet up with your friends. That happens when you aren’t working for the same company. I had my fair share of such struggles with my friends so our solution is to dine out and chill somewhere extra when the planets align.

Going somewhere with the people you care the most is definitely something regardless if you are spending time together somewhere fancy or not. The most important thing is you get to share quality time and catching up each other’s life. And what better way to do that than to spend it over good food?

Last Friday, I got the chance to visit a new restaurant that serves sumptuous Western foods with Filipino twist. The place is called Kampo Grill and Bar and I reckon that it’s best to visit the place with your squad. Kampo has a unique military base concept which makes its area very “Instagrammable”.

Here's a photograph of me in Kampo. Shoutout to my fellow Cebuano blogger buddies Wellbein of Pergazine and Sir Herbert of Drift Stories for the photos and Jomar of Laagan Ko for the smoke effect coming from his vape. haha Do check out their amazing blogs as well!
Kampo, by the way, means camp in English. The restaurant doesn’t offer a camping place or some sort of a military training but it does provide staple military foods fit for the brave and the hungry.
With its dishes made perfectly, it is more than just a place to dine. Kampo is a place to chill with your squad while having that feel of training and combat. Here are some of the dishes that I’ve tried in Kampo which will unleash the “food soldier” in you.
Kampo Grill and Bar

Buttermilk Fried Chicken
This is probably my favorite dish from Kampo. I know fried chicken is common, but this doesn't taste like your usual fried chicken! It gives justice to its name is it has this creamy, rich, buttery texture absent to other fried chicken. This is definitely a must-try should you visit Kampo soon.
Kampo Grill and Bar
Meatballs Mountain
Kampo's meatballs mountain doesn't only look appetizing. It is one of the best meatballs I have ever tried and although it has a LOT of cheese in it, it balances well with its sauce.
Kampo Grill and Bar
Pork Sisig with Itlog Maalat
Sisig is one of the most beloved Filipino foods. Sisig does have an egg on top but because of their knack for innovation, Kampo doesn't top their pork sisig with regular eggs but with itlog maalat or salted egg. The creaminess of the salted egg did enhance the savory flavor of the pork.
Kampo Grill and Bar
Crocodile Sisig
One of my goals for this year is to try an exotic food. It's actually a goal of mine since last year but I wasn't able to achieve. The new year means new goals and trying out new things. Tasting crocodile sisig from Kampo is one of the best things that happened to me this year (so far). This is a must-try and as exotic and unusual as it sounds to eat a crocodile, it doesn't. It tastes good and flavorful. It doesn't taste like any other meat such as pork, chicken, or beef. I cannot pinpoint a taste similar to it. It does taste like what a crocodile should taste like and it does taste great! If you and your friends are up to trying out new things, go try Kampo's crocodile sisig if you haven't.
Kampo Grill and Bar
Dry Rub Ribs
Most Cebuanos are used to treating themselves with savory and saucy ribs but Kampo offers something new and good for their ribs. Their ribs are rubbed with a specially crafted mixture of spices before being baked. If ribs are part of your favorite cuts, go ty Kampo's dry rub ribs.
Kampo Grill and Bar
Chicken Skin with Dynamite Sauce
Chicken skin is considered "sinful" because of its calories and fats, but, you got to save your apologies for Kampo's fried Chicken Skin which is topped with its special made from scratch dynamite sauce which is set to set your mouth on fire with its fiery flavor and spice!

Smores
Kampo doesn’t have a lot of desserts on their menu, but they do have something for their customers who have sweet tooth. Their smores will take you straight to Charlie’s Chocolate Factory.

Aside from those mouth-watering dishes above, Kampo also serves food specially prepared for group sharing! Here are two of the bests that I’ve tried.
Kampo Grill and Bar
Highblood Platter
This is a platter full of saucy, oily, and flavorful dishes known to every Filipino plate. By its name, those who have high blood pressure must consume them in moderation.
Kampo Grill and Bar
Seafood Platter
Seafood is always a good idea, and Kampo spiced up such notion with their seafood platter with your choice of crispy fries or southern rice. It’s complete with flavorful seafood staples such as shrimp, crab, and scallops. If you’re a fan of fresh seafood goodness, go grab a platter from Kampo.

Kampo Grill and Bar is located in North Reclamation Area along with Café Racer. It is the newest restaurant owned by the Pages Holdings Inc. Try their signature dishes and enjoy their creative concept by dropping by at Kampo on their grand opening day this coming January 12, 2018.

Come in your best military-inspired outfit to win amazing prizes. Local bands are invited to serenade you through the night as you enjoy your meals. Stay hungry and brave!

Love lots,

Tin
