DIY Washi Tape Decor & Ideas

For me DIY's must be affordable and at the same time fully functional. I firmly believe that when you try to make an alternative of something, one of the main points to look into is that it must not cost more than what's available in stores.
Washi tape is one of the best materials a DIY lover could ever have. I was more than happy when I discover brilliant ways how to use them. What I love most about washi tapes is the versatility that it can offer to any craft project. Here I will show you how to make a decor out of washi tapes among with other creative ideas how to use them.

For the washi tape decor, you will need the following:
Once you have all the materials needed, go over to the photos below and follow the three easy steps how to make your decor:

I removed the double sided tape and paste my decor into a blue colored paper and framed it. I also add a short quotation using watercolor calligraphy. 'Love Yourself' - a short but very powerful message :) I actually placed this on my room.

I made another bird decor using different washi tapes and placed it on top of my small notebook. This small notebook contains my baking and cooking recipes. Looking at the cover inspires me to cook and bake more.
Got more tapes? Use them for any of the design ideas below!
Pen Covers
Simply cover your pens with your favorite washi tapes and prettify your writing materials!
I also covered one of my favorite watercolor paintbrush for a little dose of inspiration. I also attached two washi tapes facing each other to create this cute tiny crown :3 makes me feel like a queen lol
Charger Decor
Have you ever experienced any trouble looking for your charger when it got mixed up with other wires? I did. So in order for me to find my charger easily, I attached some washi tapes on its side.
Makeup brush holder
Last but now the least, cover an old mayo bottle with some washi tapes after cleaning it. And there you go, your instant makeup brush holder! Isn't it cute? I love it so much and yes, I do place some of my makeup brushes on it :)

I hope you love the DIY ideas above. Which one is your favorite? I would love to see you try any of them. Don't forget to have fun and enjoy as you make them.

love lots,
Tin

  1. I do love how clean the layout for this post. It really shows you plan and think on how you will present your ideas. I also love the bird project since It is simple but elegant. But Washi tape? Washi that? Never heard it so I will be on the lookout for them at the craft store. It probably have a different name. Thanks for this idea as we need more creative people around.

  19. DIY projects for me are always a lot of fun and I would surely love to try these. I haven't seen any washi tapes in stores, but I will be on a lookout. Maybe this will be possible to do with ordinary tapes as well?

I love the first bird..the one you framed with the message love yourself. It's so perfect. The second bird design is also lovely!

That cook notebook is so cute! I was just thinking I need to start writing my notebook and keep my culinary inspiration high. Decoration the cover of one's notebook is a great way to inspire oneself!

The mayo bottle with make up brushes...what a cool idea!

I also don't like costly DIY stuff...is it just be or are the hobby stores ridiculously overpriced? Sometimes it costs five times more to make something yourself than to actually buy it...and no matter how I love making stuff myself I sometimes get disappointed after a visit to a hobby store.

    1. Hi dear! haven't tried this with ordinary tapes before. I use washi tapes because they already have designs on the other side. Thank you very much for your lovely thoughts dear! The decor inspires me a lot too and yes I agree with you. I don't know why but most stuffs from DIY/craft stores are crazy expensive. I don't like expensive DIY stuffs too because I don't think it's worth it. Washi tapes however are very cheap so I love them so much! All of the washi tapes I used above cost less than a dollar :))

    2. I will definitely search for them. How nice you're an English teacher too! Right now, I only work as a private tutor because I can't find a position in a school but I'm a qualified teacher as well! Last year I taught English in a few local high schools and it was a fun experience. Teaching is a very creative and dynamic job...no two working days are the same, there is no repetition because every student is unique and the students always have different questions for us.
