It's past midnight now and I just woke up from a dream which prompted me to scribe about my travel outside Cebu last month. Technically speaking, it wasn't a travel for pleasure as it was mainly a work-related travel. Nevertheless, I did enjoy my frenetic 45 hours love affair with the city of Ormoc.

Ormoc was one of the cities in the Philippines which were heavily damaged by typhoon Haiyan (commonly known in our country as Typhoon Yolanda) three years ago. It wasn't that long when the tropical cyclone hit, and the word chaotic would be an understatement if I were to describe the destruction which came along with it.

Upon arriving Ormoc, I immediately took the executive decision to go beyond its periphery amidst the fact that darkness already blanketed the sky. I was surprised to find out that city is recovering fast. Though it hasn't fully recovered yet, progress is evident all over the place. No, I'm not talking about high-rise buildings or high-speed cars. Ormoc needs to hustle more to be able to house such modernities, but those aren't out of reach.

One evidence is the fact that the 25th Visayas Area Business Conference (VABC) was grounded in the city. The conference, as expected, was a melting pot of innovative ideas and inspiration. I was in cloud nine when I had the chance to meet key people like former Cebu Governor Gwendolyn F. Garcia who shared her personal strategies on how to be resilient and how to cope up with drastic change. I'm not a fan of Garcia, but I have to admit that I was inspired by her talk and that I find her tips very relevant in my current situation. For that, I will also share to you what I've learned from her.

Quick trivia: Garcia is the first (and so far the only) female governor of Cebu since Miguel Lopez de Legaspi.

Just as how Ormoc rose from the destructive Haiyan, I want to be as resilient as the city. So when the strongest storm shall try to sweep every inch of me, I'll rise from the mud and continue to conquer life just as how it was meant to be. 

Some people think that there's nothing good left in Ormoc and the place is no longer worth any visit. I beg to disagree. I am stronger after 45 hours of staying there.

        We don't enjoy four seasons here in the Philippines, but when I think of autumn, what comes straight into my mind are the picturesque hues of red and brown in nature and dark lip colors. When I was much younger, I really don't have any idea about the temperature during the fall season. It was only when I started blogging that I was able to figure out that it's somehow cold, but not as cold as winter. To simply describe it, autumn is a comfortable weather. Of course, I cannot completely attest to that as I haven't been some place which has autumn. Nevertheless, based on what I've read, I feel like it will bring the same feeling that I have on a rainy day inside my favorite coffee shop. I hope what I'm feeling is right.

          Someday, I would really love to experience the fall season, but for you guys who are already enjoying it, (you're probably enjoying it now) this post is especially for you! For us females, our hair will always be our crowning glory. I'd like to believe that it is true for all of us. I also believe that how we fix or style our hair can make a huge impact towards our overall appearance.

Though I was born with a straight hair, my hair is somehow coarse, and there are times where it feels dull and dry. I do love my mom, but I must admit that we are not each other's best friend. Not because there is something going on between us, it's probably just because we are five (her children) which makes it a bit hard for her to focus on each of us. Needless to say, I'm no mama's girl.

While there are times that I feel a pang of jealousy towards those who are close with their moms, I'm cool with the relationship that I have with my mother. Though often times, I find myself wishing that we could also be each other's best friend. I mean, how cool would that be right? 

I don't get to bond with my mother that much so I was really glad when my elder brother invited us to attend a family day celebration in his work. That time, I got to bond with my mom, hence she's the one who took all of the photos in this post. Well we actually took each others photographs and it was such a wonderful moment for me. You know I don't get to post an outfit post here in my blog partly because I don't have anyone who could take my photos. I was glad that mom was in a really good mood on that day and she was such a sport in listening to my direction on how and where to take my photos. hahaha

       I wanted to create a formal/casual/comfortable outfit on that day because I know we will spend much of our time roaming around. I decided to wear my vintage looking dress for that formal vibe and opted to pair it with my black and white shoes from Parisian for added comfort. I didn't wear any accessory aside from my silver watch from Timex, which was my brother's birthday gift to me last year. Instead, I wore my favorite bowler hat from Watermelon and Company in an attempt to look more stylish. lelz

Christ and Cristine :)

Quick fact: I was named Cristine because of Christ as in Jesus Christ. I was born on December 20 which is a few days before Christmas which is why my parents (particularly my dad) decided to name me Cristine.

The funny thing is that whenever I type my name on Microsoft Word, it always come out as a word that is spelled wrong. For the reason, I asked my dad why he didn't placed an 'h' after C. He said he didn't place an 'h' on my name because it would be read as Christ (as Jesus Christ) tine, so he dropped the 'h'. lelz hahaha Let's take this time to pray for my dad's humor! hahaha
