My Heart Is a General
She
heard it when he said he didn’t love me.
How
could she not?
She
was beating twice or more at that time.
She
was inside me, always.
Yet it
puzzles me,
how could we be so unlike?
how could we be so unlike?
I told
her to stop
for I
can no longer find any ammunition, any strength or any tactics
to win
him back.
My
strategies are failing,
the
wings of my fighter planes are weak.
I was
certain I have given up.
But my
heart, grabbing her fastest horse
and
most prized gun
raced
towards the battle I scared the most.
Stomping
against the dead grasses,
she
took me into a new land.
My
heart is a general.
I must
follow her lead,
I must
follow her march,
until
we die as one.

Sometimes I think my heart is the general when actually I am listening to the privates instead ;) But, yes, dear by all means follow her up that hill, deep into the warm valley, wherever she leads. To die in such a battle only hurts the first few hundred times it happens. Beautiful writing!! So much love for you sweetie!

Delete"Until we die as one" sealed the entire poem beautifully, Cristine. I love the personification of your heart being a female general; the strength, the intuition and the determination that comes with a female definitely adds in so much to the illustration of the concept. Lovely!

Deeper than the sea? ehhehe
DeleteYES! I loved this poem Tin! I can relate to it so, so well as lately I have been encountering situations when my mind thinks one thing, but my heart says otherwise. I have become to understand that I have no power over my heart and that at the end I might crush and burn, but there is no way of stopping it. Therefore, I am very jealous of those people who can rule over their hearts and do the logical thing. But, of course, the grass is always greener on the other side, right?
ReplyDeleteAnyways, as I said I LOVED this poem, it made me think and I felt very connected to it! Thank you for that! :)
