There would be no valentine hunger.
In love's appetizing presence
We could set the table for banquet
And there, for a love menu craving
We could--
Fork love's deep eyes
Slice its nose
Spoon its lips
Put some sauce on its neck
Slice it some more
And make sign of the cross to drive away diarrhea
They say that flying kisses are medicinal
And contact kisses may cause the need for medicines.
Maybe,yes.
But only if love is carelessly cooked.
I will whisper to you a secret:
Put your love in a freezer
But first, clean it truly well
To wash off the salmonella of discontent.
Do not possess it like you keep your frozen delights.
You did not buy it from the supermarket.
Let it out when you defrost your fridge
And restore it to its original freshness.
In your hunger, prepare the dish appropriate for the moment
But only if your love consents.
Remember, eating is consensual even in marriage.
If we could eat love
Memories of loves lost
Would not give us funeral thoughts
All we'd do is visit the toilet bowl
Read love menu while we squat
Heave a sigh of relief after
And flush away old romance.
There would be no heartaches and suicidal notes
Only missing teeth or aching stomachs
If we could eat love.
