Life Guide: How to be a Better Coworker

    Ever since I started working, I found out that regardless of how much time I spend at my working place, how I connect with the people in it has so much to do with my emotional and mental well-being. It's one thing to be physically stressed from work, it's another thing to get stressed from the people you work with. Let's face it, we can't control our coworkers' personality.  That being said, not everyone's going to be your cup of tea and you're not always going to be somebody's favorite person either. However, we can always work on how we can communicate with them and maybe build a connection that is both genuine and lasting beyond office hours. 

👩 💼👨 💻Gear Away from Unprofessional Practices 👩 💼👨 💻

     We all love to be treated professionally with respect and dignity. That’s not an impossible thing to achieve especially when you know that you are doing your job well and that you try to act in a professional manner while you’re at work. One way to achieve that is by gearing away from doing things that would make you look unprofessional. It could be being on your phone, watching movies, and taking a nap during work hours. Taking aside emergency calls, try your best to check your phone during breaks. It’s really cool to hang out with your coworkers over a new film, but that could also wait after your shift or during long breaks.

     While nothing’s wrong with what was mentioned, there’s a perfect time for those. Doing such practices during work hours would not only make you look unprofessional towards your coworkers or superiors, but it might also affect your job performance.

👩 💼👨 💻Avoid Workplace Drama 👩 💼👨 💻

      Being connected with your coworkers is amazing. However, try not to fall into the trap of sharing and spreading gossips especially if you know that what you’ve heard is untrue and simply none of your business. Sometimes, gossips are fun; I know that from experience, but it has something to do with what you are gossiping about. Gossip about a new fashion trend, a new drama series, or a conspiracy theory you’ve heard on Youtube, but try your best not to gossip about somebody at work.

      Another way of getting away from gossips is to not overshare things that are not work-related. Separate what should be kept personal and what you could share with your coworkers. At the end of the day, any form of drama at work won’t only create possible disagreements, it won’t also make you any better with your job.

👩 💼👨 💻Don't Be Bossy if You're Not the Boss👩 💼👨 💻

       I don’t care who needs to hear this, but if you are working with other people, you have to learn how to work with them. Learn when to compromise and determine the greater good for everyone at work even if you’re not in the same echelon, let’s say you’re in the managing position. That doesn’t mean that you have to stop managing people, but if your method of leading others doesn’t get you or your workmates anywhere better, think of the things that you have to adjust. It could be your attitude or your personal preferences. 

     👩 💼👨 💻Learn to Listen 👩 💼👨 💻

      I must say that good communication begins with mutual respect. In the workplace, it’s especially true regardless of your work position. Any negative situation arises from bad communication. How we communicate builds our relationship with our coworkers, and it is our relationship with them which would determine the work culture of the company. As I grew older, I learn to focus on the work culture of a company rather than its monetary benefits. Although the latter is important, our emotional being matters more. Work is just part of our lives, it shouldn't be our life.

      In a situation where it cannot be helped and conflict arises at work, try to deal it in a proper way. Refrain from posting about it on Facebook. Lol The best way to do that is by listening to both sides and focusing on what you can learn out of the not-so-good situation.

👩 💼👨 💻Participate in the Company's Activities 👩 💼👨 💻

    Do you want to work with a slacker? I hope not. Try to work not only for yourself but also towards the success of the company you are working for. Participate in the company's efforts in building a strong relationship with you and your coworkers. If needed, don't hesitate to share your knowledge, talents, and skills. Trust me, it will not only benefit your company. It will also help you in becoming a valuable asset of your company and hone whatever skills you have. Chances are, those skills may come handy outside your workplace or when you grow out of your workplace. Moreover, participating in your company's activities will give you the chance to learn something new and have fun with your coworkers.

Personalized Necklaces for Your Mommy

      I've always been fond of collecting small things that spark joy to my soul. It started with paper dolls and stickers when I was younger, but I guess I never got older since I still collect some of those items. Though I've already graduated from collecting paper dolls, I added more items on my collection and those are fashion accessories. It started with rings, then with necklaces, and now with earrings. I thought I no longer care for necklaces, but then recently, my mother gave me one with a heart pendant and so my love affair with the accessory started all over again.

Maybelline SuperStay Matte Ink Liquid Lipstick in Seeker Review

    It wasn't that long since I've once again tried some lipsticks from Maybelline. I did love some of their products before, but I wasn't particularly fond of their lipsticks. I have tried some of their lipsticks and I didn't have good moments with them. However, when Maybelline put their SuperStay matte liquid lipsticks in the market, I got so curious about it. It's all probably because I idolized one of their celebrity endorsers or maybe because of a promising review that I have read about them. Nevertheless, I made the decision to buy one of their SuperStay lipstick products while shopping online and it turned out to be a good decision.

Product Description:
SuperStay Matte Ink™ Liquid Lipstick gives you a flawless matte finish in a range of supersaturated shades.
Claim:
Ink your lips in up to 16 HR saturated liquid matte. SuperStay Matte Ink™ features a unique arrow applicator for precise application and is available in a range of supersaturated shades.

Packaging:

The lipstick came in a vacuumed plastic seal. No boxes. No drama. The material that holds the product is all made out of plastic but it's fine. I don't have any issue with how it was packaged and I find the product very sleek and easy to store.

Price:

I bought mine from an online shop in the Philippines called BeautyMNL and it costs 299php ($5.81). On their website, it costs around $9.00 plus their shipping fee. I would say that the price is good and just fine for a drugstore lipstick.

    Maybelline's SuperStay lipsticks come in so many different shades which could be overwhelming. But, they are all really lovely and interestingly, Maybelline gave each of them creative names. Unfortunately, I didn't like the shades of the lipsticks which has the name of my liking so I decided to get the shade that would suit my skin tone. I also wanted something that I could wear daily that without being too bold, too dark, or too light. I eventually ended up getting the shade 245 which is named "Seeker". Interesting name right?

Here's how it looks like when applied on the lips:

The color pretty much looks like the color of the lipstick container which is a huge plus. More importantly, the shade 'Seeker' is a really good color which matches up to my skin tone well. I would say that the shade is perfect in so many skin tone shades ranging from dark to light. 

I admire the lipstick applicator that comes with the lipstick. It's longer than the usual applicator and it does get the product evenly on my lips. One or two swipes is more than enough to evenly apply the lipstick.

    Overall, I love Maybelline's SuperStay lipstick in "Seeker". This is now my go-to lipstick and it does live up to its claim being superstay. It really does stay all day on my lips without any retouch. From experience, the it only fades when I did the following: 1. Swim in the sea. Apparently, it cannot hold against seawater. 2. When I eat something with vinegar as my sauce. It must have something to do with the acidity of the vinegar. Apart from the two, I didn't experience any usual lip product issues with this one such as lip tugging, drying, cracking etc. Moisturizing my lips before applying lipsticks must play a huge part, so considering that it has a matte formula, make sure that you moisturize your lips well as it may have the tendency to dry out your lips. 

      I would definitely recommend this product and I would love to try some of the other shades available from the same line and Maybelline's latest lip tints which is one of the products girls are currently raving about!

Formal and Sweet Homecoming Dresses

    Hello, lovelies! One of the best things that are about to unfold to me this weekend is the homecoming event at the university where I graduated. I'm always grateful for the things I've learned in our school and meeting the wonderful people that had made my school days so much brighter once again is pure bliss. 

        I definitely cannot wait for the event and even though I could not just contain my excitement, something about it makes me feel nervous. It's not meeting my university batch mates and professors, it's the dress code! I know. Sometimes, dress codes can be a little bit more daunting especially if you do not have the luxury of time in choosing them. The great thing, however, is that there are now countless online shops where you can stop non stop for the dress of your choice. 

         The dress code for our event aside from something formal, we need to wear either floor-length or cocktail dresses. I love dressing up and online shopping is actually one of my stress relievers these days, but, I still find it a bit more challenging looking for a dress that suits me and my budget. On the bright side, I have the internet as my best friend that helps me picture out or visualize the dress that I want.      Even though my favorite color is blue, I fell in love with this red dress.
