DIY: Tribal Print Shorts

There's no denying the fact that Tribal Print is one of the hottest trends in fashion. I've seen a lot of tribal prints before but it's when I saw this picture in tumblr that I'm inspired to make my own.
Now is the time for you guys to do it yourself too. It's really easy plus, you don't need to spend some cash in making your own tribal print shorts.I don't really know how others did their own but what I'll show is how I made mine.

YOU WILL NEED THE FOLL.:

  • any shorts
  • a pair of scissors
  • a paint brush
  • a black textile ink
  • a permanent marker
 HOW TO:
  1.  Of course the first thing you need is the shorts. You can use any shorts you want as long as it doesn't look too dark. I prefer something that looks a bit faded to highlight the print. What I use is an old shorts given to me by my mom. You don't need to buy new shorts, you just have to have an initiative in looking for one. If you don't have any faded shorts you can always visit some thrift shops in your place right?
  2. The next thing you need is pair of scissors. You need scissors to cut off the outer edge of your shorts if you want it to have that same edge as the picture above. This is optional, you don't need to cut off edges of your shorts to make the tribal print. This is just to add some style in your shorts.
  3. Another thing you need is a black permanent marker. You will need this in putting the design in your shorts. This is also to prevent you in making mistakes if you're not that good in using paint brushes/in painting. Start drawing the design using the permanent marker. You won't have difficulty in painting if you do so.
  4. The design you made using the marker will serve as a guide for you in painting your shorts. You will need a paint brush and a black textile ink. The thinner the paint brush, the better. Thin brushes will enable you to have control in tracing the designs you have especially if you have a shaky hands while you paint.
  5. After painting the traces with the black textile ink, VIOLA! You'll have your own tribal print shorts now. I didn't know yet if the ink won't smudge after you do your laundry. Haven't wash my own tribal printed shorts yet but I heard that acrylic paint wouldn't smudge so I guess prints from textile ink would do the same since it's more appropriate to use in any type of cloths.
 HERE's WHAT MINE LOOKED LIKE:

Thanks for reading! I hope this post will help you make your own tribal print shorts too.

A Love Letter from the Toothbrush to the Bicycle Tire

by Sarah Kay
They told me that I was meant for the cleaner life
That you would drag me through the mud
They said that you would tread all over me
That they could see right through you
That you were full of hot air
That I would always be chasing
Always watching you disappear after sleeker models
That it would be a vicious cycle
But I know better
I know about your rough edges
And I have seen your perfect curves
I will fit into whatever spaces you let me
If loving you means getting dirty
Bring on the grime
I will leave this porcelain home behind
I’m used to twice a day relationships
But with you, I’ll take all the time
And I know that we live in different worlds
And we’re always really busy
But in my dreams
You spin around me so fast
I always wake up dizzy
So, maybe one day
You’ll grow tired of the road
And roll on back to me
And when I blink my eyes into morning

Your smile will be the only one I see.

Ear Candy: CATTSKI

I'm not an accredited music blogger or any of the kind but I wanted to share this wondrous and cool music I just heard last week in one of my busy nights editting our short film project. I was trolling around fb to kill time waiting for my downloads to finish when I caught a glimpse of an interesting post by one of my friends in fb. This friend of mine shared a link going to soundcloud ( a site in w/c you can freely upload your music). I've been to soundcloud before checking out music too and so what happened is I opened the link and VIOLA! my ear is tasting its candy-CATTSKI. >.<

I don't really know much about her but when I checked out her page in fb, I've found out that she's also a Cebuana like me. I was a bit surprised since I am truly amazed with her voice that I thought what I'm hearing is a popular song abroad. She had a very nice diction and believe me, her voice is so powerful you'll catch yourself clicking the 'play' button again and again.
I'm always a fan of Indie musicians in our country but most of them are from Manila. As what I'm saying I'm not fully aware of the very talented Cebuanos we have. After listening to almost all of CATTSKI's soundtracks in her soundcloud account, I feel much proud to pinned the FIlipino music in me. Her music makes me a much proud Cebuana too.
Also, I've found out that she doesn't limit her talent in just singing songs, most of her songs are composed by her too. Her music never fail to sooth away my stress after a long day in school. I love all of her songs like the Secret Crush, Being Good, Me,50's etc. I always find them amusing but my favorite song from her is her newly release 'Monsters'. This song will gear up all its listeners to a new level of appreciating music to its fullest.

I feel I’m braver now to face my demons
I’ve finally learned to use my angels too
I think I’m finally ready to live my truth
Cause right now that I’m without you
There’s just nothing to lose

I feel I’m stronger now to own my feelings
Strong enough that I can stand my ground
And I’m aware that I still can’t let you go
But there’s nothing to hold on to now
You’re nowhere to be found

**     I used to be so worried
        You might run away
I fought so hard to make you want to stay
I hid you in my closet, I put you on a leash
But even then you’ve managed to escape

***    And all the monsters have left the building
Cause there’s absolutely nothing they can take from me
And all the sirens have stopped their screaming
The police have stopped their chasing
They got nothing to pin on me
        Now that you’re gone

Repeat ** and ***
You were my everything…
You were

Repeat ***

Why Am I Not Alive When You Were?

For almost three weeks now I've been very busy about school. There's the endless projects, exams, reports, presentations, etc. I just breathe today after a week of preparation for my presentation in one of my major courses. lol. Thank God he's always there to give me enough time and energy to have fun amidst the busy schedule I have. Never thought junior year in college would be this tough. Well, nobody said it was easy anyway. I'm just glad to make it through. Next week is our midterm exams and hopefully I'll manage to make it too.okay, I'm talking (complaining) a lot now. gomen.
So here's just another post that made me breathe much better :)

my sketch of Audrey Hepburn
This is my favorite photo of her when I searched for her over the net. I haven't really achieved the original look she had on her photo. yep I made her photo as my guide in sketching this one. Anyways, she's always stunning in every angle and I don't know why but I find Audrey easy to sketch.haha.srsly.

Another sketch of Hepburn
I actually made this aheadof the other sketch above. This is the first I did too when my mom bought me my first sketchpad.

yey, It's Lennon! John Lennon
Here's a drawing I made for my favorite The Beatles member, John Lennon. I don't have to explain why, do I? hahaha Made this using my signature ballpoint pen, mygel 0.5 LOL. Btw, I had some guide or reference to made this drawing too. I just searched for Lennon over the net too and found a similar drawing above so I made it. I don't remember who made the drawing, just found it in google. But the one above is my version.Credits for that guy anyway :) Lennon is always cool w/ his signature glasses.

Marilyn Monroe
An artwork for Marilyn Monroe. I don't really like, idolized her that much but a friend of mine asked me to draw her and so I did :D It's actually a combination of ink, paint (for the lips) and pencil (for shadowing).

The Beatles
My artwork for my favorite band.yey.The Beatles!!! This one's the famous FaceBeatles photo they have. I really, really love how they look in this drawing. You can find a lot of photos similar to this one. Funny fact about this thing is its size. The actual size of this drawing is 1x2, so you can imagine now how small it is. It just looks big here because of the photo size but if you notice it's a bit blur.lol. The important thing is I managed to succeed in making theface beatles. I tried making another version of this one, a lot bigger, but it didn't turn out to be the best. My classmate Valerie asked it from me as her birthday gift last year so she's the owner of that FAIL facebeatles now hahahahha.
James Dean
One of my artworks I consider one of my best.lol. I just love how I achieved to show Dean's face in a paint. In the reference photo I had, the paint color is supposed to be blue but my younger brother took it. What remains is my red paint so it's what I used for this one.

Note: All artworks above are made by me. I used different photos from google too as my reference/guide to draw them.

Imagine the Clouds Crying

Imagine the clouds crying,
pouring colourless needles
washing out your pain.

The dust carrying
wind, is now cool and freezing,
penetrating in your skin.

It's telling you to
emerge yourself into the
warmth of the brown energy.
